Island Conservation restores islands for nature and people worldwide. Their work shows how quickly an ecosystem can recover, with native plants returning, wildlife coming back, and coastlines and communities growing more resilient once a damaged island is given the chance to heal. Removing the invasive species driving that damage is often where the work begins.
My work is created on leather from invasive species removed from threatened ecosystems. The materials don't come from Island Conservation projects, but what connects our work is the same hopeful belief: remove what’s causing the damage, and give nature a chance to heal.

Is my artwork purchase tax-deductible?
No. You’re purchasing an artwork at its stated value from Laura Shape, and Laura will make the donation to Island Conservation. You will not receive a charitable-donation receipt for your purchase. Please consult your tax adviser about your individual circumstances.
How does my purchase support Island Conservation?
Throughout August, 25% of the artwork price from every qualifying original artwork or commission purchased through this partnership will be donated to Island Conservation.
Does the leather in Laura’s artwork come from Island Conservation’s projects?
No. My materials come from invasive species removed from other threatened ecosystems, including lionfish from Atlantic and Caribbean reefs, Burmese pythons from the Florida Everglades, and carp from American rivers.
What connects our work is a shared belief in the effectiveness of removal. Island Conservation sees firsthand how quickly native wildlife and ecosystems can begin to recover when the invasive species causing the damage are removed.
Which purchases qualify?
All original artworks purchased through this partnership between August 1 and August 31, 2026, qualify. A commission also qualifies when the commission agreement is signed and the initial payment is received during August.
Do I need a code for my purchase to qualify?
No. Any original artwork purchased through this website during August will automatically be included in the partnership.
Will I have to pay for shipping?
Insured shipping within the continental United States is included in the artwork price. If you live outside the continental United States, please contact me before purchasing so I can provide a shipping quote and help coordinate delivery.
Can I commission an artwork through the partnership?
Yes. We’ll begin with a private conversation about your space, preferred size, palette, and invasive-species material. Commissions initiated during August also qualify for the 25% donation to Island Conservation.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. Payment arrangements are available for both original artwork and commissions. Contact me before purchasing, and we’ll find an arrangement that works for you.
When will Island Conservation receive the donation?
Laura Shape will donate 25% of the artwork price from qualifying original-artwork purchases by September 14. For qualifying commissions, 25% of the final commission price will be donated after the artwork is completed and paid in full.
