Denver artist Laura Shape paints luminous abstracts on leather made from invasive fish and snakes. She begins each piece in her studio, then works on its final stages during the event. Guests arrive to find a painting already taking shape and can watch it develop throughout the gathering.
An experience guests can make their own
Laura welcomes guests to watch and talk with her at their own pace. Some stop for a moment. Others return to see what has changed.
The painting becomes a natural gathering point within the reception: visually distinctive, engaging, and easy to enjoy alongside conversation and service. Laura works on one of her own original artworks, rather than painting portraits or scenes from the event.

Before the event, Laura will discuss the setting and broad theme with you. This helps her select and prepare a painting that feels appropriate for your guests while remaining true to her artistic practice.
Proven at a private event
Laura painted during the cocktail hour at the International SeaKeepers Society’s Founders Event in Fort Lauderdale. Guests gathered around the easel throughout the evening, curious about the painting and the lionfish leather beneath it.

Simple to host
Choose a 60-, 90-, or 120-minute appearance to suit your gathering. Laura needs approximately 4 × 4 feet and brings her easel, painting materials, drop cloth, and battery-powered lighting. No power or water is required.
The host provides a small table where guests may choose complimentary art cards, each a small print of one of Laura’s paintings. A guest book is available for anyone who would like to join her email list.
What happens to the painting?
The painting is one of Laura’s original artworks and is not included in the event engagement. The host may arrange to purchase it before or after the event, or designate a client to have the first opportunity to acquire it.
Laura takes the painting back to her studio after the event. If purchased, it will typically be ready for delivery within three weeks.
