About the Work
Beautiful Stranger is a large, luminous field of soft color that hovers between sky, water, and something more unfamiliar. Dreamy layers of blue, pink, yellow, and lavender drift across the surface, while the raised python scales catch light and cast shadow. From a distance it feels calm and weightless. Up close, the texture introduces a quiet tension between beauty and danger, attraction and unease.
The work is built from a single fourteen-foot invasive Burmese python skin, cut into sections, mounted to a wood panel, and painted in acrylic. Color is airbrushed and brushed in multiple passes so it settles into the recessed areas, then catches lightly on the highest points of the scales. As you move past the surface, the pastels seem to glow from within.
