Description
Caribbean Dreams Series | Piece 1 of 5
Painted in Denver, on leather from invasive Caribbean lionfish, this piece is not a literal landscape. It is what soft light, warm water, and sea air become when you miss them.
That suspended moment in the tropics when the sky goes from pink to deep blue and everything hovers. The water holds the last light. The mountains go soft and dark. And just before the first stars appear, the whole world feels like it's holding its breath.
The surface is built from 68 invasive lionfish skins, sourced from the same Caribbean waters that inspired the series. Each fish removed helps reduce pressure on native reef life. The material was part of the problem. In this painting, it becomes part of the solution.
