Description
Daydreaming About My Love floats somewhere between a memory and a wish.
Dimensional forms drift across a pale pink glow, their iridescent blues, violets, and blush tones appearing to change as the light moves. Each is edged in 24-karat gold, creating small flashes across the canvas and giving the composition the feeling of something precious held just beyond reach.
The forms are made from invasive lionfish leather. I painted the natural scale texture with layers of acrylic and luminous pigment, then wet-molded each piece into a shallow curve before gilding its edges and affixing it to the canvas. Their raised surfaces catch light and cast delicate shadows, so the work seems to shift as you pass.
There is a private, suspended quality to the composition. The forms might be thoughts, moments, or fragments of memories. They gather without becoming fixed, capturing the way love can occupy the mind without asking permission or resolving into words.
The leather comes from invasive lionfish removed from Caribbean reefs. Creating lasting value from this material helps build demand connected to continued removal, allowing something harmful to become intimate, luminous, and enduring.
